Cornils to Play Carnegie Hall

AUSTIN, TEXAS – February 10, 2010 –  Margaret Cornils  will present her second solo concert at Carnegie Hall this March.  As part of the 26th Anniversary Season, Cornils will perform an evening concert with accompanist Sharon Jensen on March 26th in the Weill Recital Hall.  The concert will include selections from Bach, Debussy, Poulenc, Gary Schocker, Clifton Williams and Paul Genin.

Cornils made her Carnegie Hall debut in April of 2008.  She has also performed at Orchestra Hall in Chicago, and alongside other talented performers including Garrison Keillor, Anne Murray, Isaac Stern and Mstislav Rostropovich.  Cornils is currently a flute professor at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Cornils joined the Altus artist roster in November 2009.  She said she knew she needed to play an Altus the first time she played it because, " I was so impressed by the depth of color and beautiful sound I instantly "fell in love".  But, it was not only that but the ease of producing a "non-abrasive" sound in all registers I felt I was looking for and could not find in my previous instruments… I was even more excited to play on an instrument with such a terrific scale!”

Her audiences can enjoy her new Altus 1807 with a Z-cut headjoint at upcoming performances in Wisconsin including the February 24th Roundtree Ensemble featuring an all Mozart repertoire at the Center for the Arts on the University of Wisconsin Platteville campus.
