Altus Events at 2009 Chicago Flute Festival
AUSTIN, TEXAS – October 1, 2009 – Altus flute artists will have a busy schedule in this November for the 2009 Chicago Flute Festival. Attendees can sit in on a Masterclass with William Bennett, workshops with Phyllis Louke, or the finale concert of flute duos with Bennett and Denis Bouriakov.
Louke has played bass and contrabass flute with the National Flute Choir, International Flute Orchestra and the NFA Professional Flute Choir. In her workshop, “Sonic Adventures: Exploring Cool Flute Sounds,” Louke will help players learn new techniques that can help improve tone and intonation. It will take place on the 2nd floor ballroom from 10:00 am – 10:45 am on Saturday November, 7. This clinic is followed by, “All You Wanted to Know About Big Flutes but were Afraid to Ask,” where she will guide flutists through the ins and outs of playing alto, bass and contrabass flutes from 11am-11:45 in the Heritage Room. Louke will also offer private lessons on the “Big Flutes.” For more information about Louke visit www.phyllislouke.com or to order her new method book “Flute 101: Mastering the Basics,” visit www.fabulousflute.com.
