THE NEW ALTUS Z-CUT HEADJOINT

Altus presents an exciting new headjoint – the Altus Z Cut Headjoint.

The embouchure hole on the new Z Cut headjoint is decidedly more rectangular than the Classic Altus design. The new Z Cut offers flutists a wider blowing edge to accommodate their diverse embouchure shapes and positions.

The innovative headjoint generates a new spectrum of sound for the Altus family of flutes. Players who have experienced the Z Cut declare that it offers a powerful lower register without sacrificing the classic Altus color and tonal beauty. A strong and even projection throughout the entire range of the flute is the hallmark of this dynamic cut. Players agree that the Z Cut design adds a new fiery dimension to the Altus sound.

Each Z Cut Headjoint is hand crafted of .958 Britannia Silver. The Britannia tubing possesses the ringing quality of sterling, yet adds a velvety element that prevents the timbre of the tube from being overly bright. The lip-plate and riser are hand carved from Sterling silver, presenting a well honed cut that allows for quick and agile response in articulated passages.

The two silvers found in the Z Cut Headjoint, Sterling and Britannia, along with a brass weighted headjoint crown are truly winning combinations.

The headjoint is available for models 907, 1107, 1307, and 1507.
