TREVOR WYE

International Recording Artist, Soloist, and Teacher

Trevor plays the Altus 1507 model.

"I have always been impressed by Altus flutes, particularly in regard to the excellent scale. It is an innovative company, always trying to improve, and the results show in their fine range of flutes." - Trevor Wye

Many flutists admire Trevor Wye for his generous contributions to the pedagogy of the flute. His methods and approach are greatly appreciated and respected by many flutist around the world. In addition to his prolific teaching, he also performs regularly in concerts. He is also quite well-known for his flute collection and performance of “flutes fantastic” – a very entertaining recital where he performs on more than 50 flutes – containing his famous rendition of “44 Variations on the Carnival of Venice” for 53 flutes.

Trevor Wye has taught at the Guildhall School of Music, London and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He teaches at his “Flute Studio” in Kent where he offers a one year residential course for post-graduate students. Though he did not receive the traditional formal training many pursue in music, he has received honorary degrees and has had considerable influence from the following teachers: Geoffrey Gilbert, Marcel Moyse, and William Bennett.
