Colleen Carroll, is an acclaimed flutist whose work encompasses solo recitals,
orchestra, performances, studio recordings and chamber music. As a tenured
member of California’s Cabrillo Music Festival Orchestra since 1985,
Colleen has also appeared with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and
performed in Kansas City with the Kansas City Philharmonic, Kansas City
Civic Orchestra and on the Nelson Gallery of Art Chamber Series. She has
had many appearances throughout California with the San Francisco Chamber
Orchestra, Mostly Modern Orchestra, Pacific Philharmonic, Hidden Valley
Opera, Chamber and Musical Theatre Orchestras, and Monterey Symphony.
A prominent freelancer and studio musician in Los Angeles and Hollywood,
she has shared the stage with internationally acclaimed vocalists Celine
Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Her versatile style and colorful tone may be
heard in numerous films. Recent movie soundtracks include: Spiderman,
Men In Black 1 & 2, Planet of the Apes, The Family Man, Get Over It,
Proof of Life, Dead Presidents, Cold Blooded, Flubber, Snow Day, Instinct,
Good Will Hunting, Mission Impossible, The Wedding Singer, Mars Attacks,
Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion as well as numerous commercials
and recordings.
Having a solid background in music, Colleen received her Bachelor of Music
from San Francisco State University and has been honored to receive private
study with masterful flutists and performers Julius Baker, James Pappoutsakis,
Louise DiTullio, Paul Renzi, Lloyd Gowen and Phil Cohen. She has participated
in masterclasses with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Julius Baker, Michel Debost
and Frances Blaisdell.
A founding member of the very active Los Angeles Flute Quartet, she is
involved with their mission to perform new music and bring to the general
public flute quality ensemble music that is committed to authenticity.
LAFQ is a diverse mix of solo and ensemble players dedicated to fostering
an appreciation for the flute and its vast capacity for expression in
music to the community. They present concerts of eclectic and standard
repertoire in addition to newly composed works. We invite you to learn
