VIVIANA GUZMÁN
As an international performer, Chilean-born Viviana Guzmán has played worldwide as an independent artist, an orchestra member and soloist. Her unique style has earned her the description of “an imaginative artist,” from the New York Times. Her style ranges from classical to tango, mambo, flamenco, world, and meditation. Playing over 80 concerts world wide each year, Guzmán has performed in 56 countries. She began her musical training at the age of 5 and won her first competition at 7; by the age of 15, Guzmán played as a soloist with an orchestra, studied with Jean-Pierre Rampal and was featured on NBC's nationally televised John Denver music special. Ms. Guzmán studied with James Galway and Albert Tipton, and graduated from the Juilliard School.
She has appeared as soloist with orchestras in Russia, Chile, Wisconsin, Montana, Vermont, California, Texas as well as New York City's Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. As a member of the Houston Grand Opera, she accompanied Placido Domingo, and with the New World Symphony in Miami she played under Michael Tilson Thomas. As a recording artist, she has recorded on Polygram, National Geographic and Sugo labels. Titles include: "Telemann Flute Fantasies" (1996), "Planet Flute" (1997), "Mostly Tango" (2002), and "Serenity” (2002.) Her 1999 recording, "Tranquility," was deemed by Oprah as "Best Morning Music," and “Danza de Amor,” from 2000 has sold over 40,000 copies.
